The village of Vrastama

The village of Vrastama is mentioned from very old times, as it was located on the main road that connected Polygyros with Mount Athos. Especially known for Saint Efthymius the ascetic and the holy belt of Our Lady, it had many and morphologically interesting old houses, such as Partali’s, Raptopoulo’s, Kavoura’s (today’s Virgas) and so on. The late famous Greek professor of architecture, Nikolaos Moutsopoulos, mentioned the village and the above houses in one of his books, about the Macedonian Architecture.
